Just watching (reluctantly) the repeat of the Christmas episode, hoping against hope that it will improve, but sadly it doesn't - it just gets more boring every minute. Utterly pathetic - more like a cross between the seaside postcard humour of an old Carry On film and a very badly written sitcom!! No believable story-line whatsoever and the production is appalling too - trees in the churchyard in full leaf at Christmas?!!
This series is such a disappointment in comparison with the Darling Buds of May. Everything that could have been changed has been changed, even the age order of the children, and a tax collector of Nigerian origin with the surname of Charlton? Give me strength!!
It's so obviously a send-up of the 1950s by those of an age who think that anything before 2000 is from the Dark Ages, and that the folks who were alive at that time and remember the values of those days are only fit to be ridiculed. I suppose we can't expect much from a cast of Z-list actors but surely Bradley Walsh can do better for himself than that tripe!.
