Thought-provoking, intimate, and a breath of fresh air. Solar Power may be divisive given its individualism under Lorde’s music roster, but it surely takes a special kind of listener to appreciate its notable bravery. Most songs under this album hold Lorde’s innermost emotions (“The Man with the Axe”, “The Path”), evidently seen in her lyrics. As for the melodies, Jack Antonoff (producer) somehow perfectly encapsulated the nostalgia brought about by summertime (“Oceanic Feeling”, “Fallen Fruit.”) Solar Power may not be as good as its predecessor (Melodrama), but it is truly a standout in the music scene and will not lose its ray of light any time soon.
