Do you hold the original Matrix movies in the highest of regard, like the cinematic masterpieces that they are? Then don’t watch this movie. Do you believe that filming three movies (and an animated feature, multiple video games, etc.) serves as a proper establishment for the tenants of a world, style of production, etc? Boundaries that can be expanded on but not ignored? Then don’t watch this movie. Do you watch movies to escape to another world/time/place, where the problems and challenges of real life are left behind? Then don’t watch this movie. Or do you feel that none of that matters? That a story can be completely changed (despite the original story literally being shown within it) with no consequence, that its ground-breaking nature can be replaced with mediocrity, or that social or political undertones that contribute absolutely nothing to the story are an acceptable substitute for originality and honest-to-god entertainment? Then by all means, grab some popcorn and enjoy. Or at least try to.
