It's a decent game but not a great one. The game can be fun, but also has too many shortcomings, such as it's lackluster animations and graphics, as well as the exclusion of the national dex for reasons that game freak seemingly lied about; lying to your consumers is never okay. Despite the fun that's on offer, all the shortcomings and lack of innovation are fairly awful when you consider that Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise of all time; this fact, combined with the lies and the recent dlc that locks several classic Pokemon behind a pay wall sheds light on how game freak are willing to exploit their fans and sell a half baked product. Pretty disgusting to be honest, and I'd actually discourage people from buying the game despite it's fun factor because of this.
