I have watched this movie every year for the last decade. It is so dark, haunting, singular, holds you just in the right place.

The first half of season 1's episodes were great. I enjoyed Sarah Paulson's Pinkerton agent character in Deadwood, so I knew she'd be a good fit for a finely tuned, sociopathic, charming character. It's a well cast series, the acting and sets are exquisite, the attempt at noir style cinematography was appreciated. However after the first 6 episodes there was a hard pivot which fundamentally train wrecked the storyline by altering the character's strategies and motivations. The series score stays the same throughout, and the sudden clash of it on the viewer's ears at the halfway point is just further evidence of this disjointed change from horror/thriller to soft and sappy. Felt like you get sucked in and then the curtain is unceremoniously cast off to reveal an eye rolling political agenda instead of the interesting horror anthology/origin story it was billed as.

Sure, there's room for improvement. Death is a bit overbearing, and there were a couple overt, "look how woke we are" story telling decisions that felt a bit trope-y. But! There's nothing else like it. I love the concepts for almost every character, the acting, sets, and comedy are charming, and enough of an intriguing storyline/artistic endeavor that I'ma bout to watch it a 2nd time. I haven't felt that inclined to a 2nd view through since Firefly.

'65' was so bad I went to the bar afterwards to numb the pain. A random stranger ordering beer next to me at the brewery said it best, "Give me two of the lightest beers you've got." Adam Driver, come on man.

The Oscars panel's soaring recommendation of this trash film are a shining example of why the Oscars are in fact irrelevant. I was eager for this movie, love Westnern locations for sets, love Cumberbatch, love pushing norms and narratives. But this story was unintelligible and unsubstantial toe dipping into edginess for the sake of being considered hype worthy by Hollywood sheep.

I bet Mike Pence watches this like its the XMen. Also, this movie would be a lot better if it did just merge into the XMen universe.

Gawdamn. That first episode is a HOOK.

Bring it back!!! There aren't enough thoughtful, original sci-fis produced. This has West World level cult potential.

Appreciated the, "back to their roots" storytelling. They produced a nostalgic, 90s style slasher flick while poking fun at themselves without overdoing it, or relying on social commentary to elevate the storyline. Perfect date night movie Wes would have been proud of. Do it for Dewey.

The best parts of this movie were Gandolfini's son playing young Tony, and the inclusion of Harold's rival black gang offering a counter to the Italians. I'm even more confused, "who made Tony Soprano," and wish they'd just gone ahead and made a sequel to the series where we see that Meadow has taken over as the family Boss.
