One Star each for actors giving decent performances.
I spent the earlier part of my life performing in the arts, and the more recent part taking courses in it to complete some degrees.
But I have spent most of my life watching Film and TV (like most). And during that time, I cannot recall many other films that ask the audience to suspend disbelief as much as this film does.
The character Marla is a “man hater” that suspends her on disbeliefs believing that no one will eventually take action against her unscrupulous business. She even does so when directly faced with the fact that the Russian Mafia is about to kill her, calling their threats empty.
The only reason she even makes it to the third act is a result of no less than four blunders from the hired help.
This film has more holes than the strainer in my kitchen. At no point during this film did I enjoy it.
As for being surprising or a thriller, I called the ending at the beginning. You don’t back people into a corner while messing with their family at the same time.
