This movie starts off with a very traumatic scene, and the original character that plays Celeste as a young woman is excellent. However, once Celeste grows up her character as Natalie Portman becomes extremely strange, basically evil and strays way too far from the realistic life-path that the viewer would assume for the younger Celeste.
Natalie Portman indulges in pretending to be a pop star which is cringy to watch at best, and at worst is totally unconvincing to the point of extremely annoying. In this role she leaves me never wanting to see another Natalie Portman movie ever again. This movie does however leave me wanting to see the original Celeste (the actress playing the younger Celeste) again and again. The younger Celeste was beautiful to watch and an excellent actress.
The beginning of this movie was believable and a great glimpse into the reality of gun violence in America and its survivors, but the end of this movie made me so mad that the story writers or director took it in this extremely horrible direction.
I genuinely hate this movie and think it is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It is disappointing because it starts off so well. It's up there with Sharknado, you know, the kind of movie that is so bad it makes you angry to watch.
It is a disgrace to the words Vox Lux and I genuinely wish it could be erased from film history. If there are Natalie Portman haters out there, I now know exactly why. Yuk.
