One of the most significant and important books to society that I've ever read. Evelyn's life from the moment she lost the name Herrera and became Hugo to the last emerald gown has been anything but forgettable. She wants you to hate her and no matter how hard you might try to judge or dislike her, you can't. Everything she did and why she did it, everyone she loved and everyone she didn't.
A woman, an actress, a lover, a wife, an icon, a mother. Evelyn Hugo made me cry so much and carries so many themes and morals to take away that I genuinely hope it becomes an unforgettable and cherished classic.
Everything in this book feels so real and genuine. That life isn't always luxurious. That women are more than things you pick at when you're hungry and abandon when you're full. Her story was just so captivating and that was shown in how she changed Monique's life in the short time she came to know her in.
What an absolutely amazing book.
