I live in the Austin area. The constant references to Austin being a “small town” and “rural” takes me out of it. Where the station is supposedly based would be 20 miles from any of the Ag references made in the show-and they would never respond to them (plus the constant Western bar references is funny-they do exist, but no more than any other city). It truly feels like they boiled down the most stereotypical parts of Texas all into one small area and are pretending it’s Austin. And growing up on a farm the “techniques” used in those scenarios are pretty far off. The flaws in accuracy make it abundantly apparent the writers are from the coasts and have never spent more than a drunken weekend in Austin-it also makes it impossible to follow the story line.
