Once you start reading this book, you can’t put it down. As a West Virginia native, I could certainly relate to the hardships of families struggling to live in the coal mining towns. The writing was filled with such description, I could feel, taste and see what the main characters in this book experienced. As a counselor for children of severely dysfunctional families, I can attest that this book depicts a true account of many children living in the Appalachian Region of WV. The author tells it like it is, not holding back or sugar coating events. The humorous story telling certainly gives the reader some belly laughs, which is necessary amidst the ugly truths about addiction, poverty and mental illness. I hope to read more books by this author.
