The message and storyline of the movie is very strong, Afghan children are the tragic victims of the ongoing war and have disproportionately affected them over the past 3/4 decades. The intent of promoting and using sport as a unifying factor is portrayed well to an extent. Sports have played an enormous role in bringing the nation together all over the country and is redefining Afghanistan globally. However, the characters were not truly representative (just like any other Bollywood movie about 🇦🇫). Pashto/Dari pronunciation was very poor and the text written/translated in Pashto didn’t make sense to me at all.
Poor location selection, I didn’t feel like I was watching a movie based on Afghanistan. unrealistic cinematography, houses, people.. it just didn’t go well together. I don’t know if the custom designers even knew what the movie is based on, there was zero resemblance and far far from reality.
It looks like the director have just watched the news about Afghanistan and not even bothered to approach educated professionals/orgs for advice, I would love to know his sources for gathering info. The main character (ex-Indian OFFICIAL) goes to visit a wanted insurgent leader at his place to negotiate the release of his cricket players, and then at the end of the movie, the same leader himself comes to plan/eye-witness an attack in the capital, I don’t know how realistic that is and what the director was thinking 😅
We expect better from the Indian cinema, they should do some in-depth research about any matter/topic they are covering to draw accurate conclusions and produce something at least close to to reality and worthy of watching. Total misrepresentation!
