As an adult movie, it's a creative art film. In Hulu, it's classed as a family movie. In my opinion, it's waaaay too dark and depressing for a children's movie. I don't mean a single sad event. Every time it looks like the family is pulling itself together, another crushing blow happens. The ending feels slapped on in an attempt to end on an positive. If you plan to view youngsters, definitely watch it in advance and decide.
