the first thirty minutes of the movie were good. i liked the throwback scenes and older vibe it had. i also thought it was interesting how Michael escaped the fire. some might say it’s too unbelievable but it’s always ticked me off when people said that about movies. especially halloween movies, like at this point, we know a lot of it isn’t going to be believable. we’ve seen him survive too much for that to happen. anyways, other then the cheesy and out of touch lines the children were delivering in the beginning, it was good.
this movie just felt like a continuation of the other hundred. it has no plot. it was ur standard michael escapes, people try to kill him, he kills them instead, they think he’s finally dead but he’s not ta-da. nothing new like the 2018 one. what wasn’t standard was the way they went about showing this plot. they’ve completely abandoned carpenters vision of a more looming impending dread vibe for the movies and gone with an in your face gore approach instead. not to mention we didn’t even get to become attached to the characters being brutally murdered one after the other because they were killed just as quick as they were introduced. basically all of the old characters were killed except lori (who played no big part in the movie other than randomly commenting that “he has to die” like they all do) and all of the new characters were killed as well except for the incredibly un likable daughter and granddaughter of lori. they r so terribly dumb and unlike lori. they walk right into michaels traps despite apparently having been warned against his ways their whole lives as well as seeing firsthand what he is capable of as he picks off everyone they know. both of them constantly decide they must “take on michael” on their own because apparently they will be able to do what no other has with just a cleaver or a pitchfork or whatever.
the new main characters are just so unlikable because of how frustratingly self absorbed and ignorant they are compared to lori. i’m not sure how they will continue the story with no original characters left and just these two running around on their own basically walking straight into his hands.
i don’t quite understand those upset that michael didn’t die. while i think it was lazy the way they decided to do the whole “hes dead, oh wait no he’s not” thing, this IS a halloween movie. of course he’s not dead. they definitely could’ve done it better though. i mean hitting him with a wrench a few times isn’t gonna kill michael myers.
i thought it was okay. the methods of killing were creative and the gore was well done, if that’s what ur looking for. it was a lot like the other movies in terms of plot, but the way in which they executed it was different, and not in a good way in my opinion. i’m just an average person tho idek anything abt movies rlly.
