This was an incredible disappointment. The characters and the story were absolutely ruined. I expected changes here or there...but what was this? It left plot holes, many massive plot holes. They tried to over explain that the characters were the same but showed almost no semblance of the original characters. The original themes of the show that make the original so great, are just gone. The over explanation of literally everything made me feel as if they thought I was stupid. Not to mention all the splicing of season 1, 2, and the new stuff gave me whiplash. The only thing they did right was world immersion. But that's it. The worst part is knowing that we could of had the entirety shot for shot. The original first season is about 7 1/2 hours long in total, and the Netflix version is 8 hours. They could of done something amazing but chose not to.

It was cringe. The writing was really hard to get through. I was really excited about it because I adore Gabrielle Union and I thought a fresh (very modernized) take was going to be really good. It just.. wasn't, it fell flat for me. I never went into this wanting to relate to anyone since I have never shared an experience like any of the characters. I just really wanted to enjoy it like I did the first two, but I just couldn't. It took me 3 days to finish it because I couldn't stop cringing. I will say, the representation in this movie was incredible. The "littles" were adorable and made the movie for me. I wanted this to be better, but it just wasn't .

I knew going into this it wasn't going to be like the original. And I'm glad I kept that expectation. As a long time fan of the show, I actually was very excited from when they released the first trailer for this. I thought it was a very interesting take and a lot of the new additions made some sense. I really enjoyed that they used a lot of the music from the original series as well. My only issue really with it is that it just felt a little lacking. Mostly because a major member was missing. I'm a huge fan of Ed and it just felt weird not having her with the crew. It was nice to have her appearance but it was so brief that it was disappointing. If there ends up being another season I truly hope that she has more screen time. Over all, I definitely think it's worth a watch whether you've seen the original series or not. It still has that fun, campy feel that made the original so amazing.
