It’s a stupid, funny-as-hell comedy, which I wasn’t expecting since I had not seen a trailer before hand.
Think the remake of Starsky and Hutch years ago. If you liked that movie, then you will like this movie.
The showtime I attended was not packed. But there was soooooo much laughter at times you couldn’t hear the dialogue. I’ll watch it again if it ever hits Netflix just so I can catch all the dialogue.
If you go see it, just know it has an action packed, unrealistic shoot ’em up, catch the bad guy, love story plot — what else would you expect from a movie named Shaft.
It’s set in Harlem. Ok, you expect to see a storyline about guns and drugs. Right?
The twist is Shaft’s son. And that’s where the majority of the comedy comes from. The interplay between estranged father and son. Yeah there’s a lot of cussing. You expect to get that with Sam Jackson in it. There’s one scene with nudity, and some stereotypes. But the comedy of it all proved to be a gut-busting laugh fest.
I haven’t laughed that hard, nonstop in years!
