Me and my kids ages 19, 16, 15 and 13 read this book section by section. We had incredibly revealing conversations about race, racism and anti-racism which is still not The answer. The gospel, the good news, is the solution, we’ve discovered, is what saves the ailments of humanity. We I had my kids answer questions and form questions for discussion per section. This way they could think criticall about the perspectives painted in this non-textbook. The best part of our discussions was their revelation that what their history/social studies teachers explain withholds or leaves out painting historical figures for n a good light rather than allowing their choices and decisions to tell the story! Kids with the truth critically thinking about the acts, beliefs and values of our countries forefathers. They were pioneers that were not without grave mistakes that left black America to pay the cost.
