Okay so I just watched @bulbbul.netflix and loved the movie to say the least.
I'm a fan of Neo Noir films in general, I could sit and watch the most boring ones also just coz I love the genre in general.
The female protagonist @tripti_dimri really stood out to me!
@paoli_dam was quite memorable too!
Well done casting directors.
Now we don't very often see a "HEROINE" in hindi movies but @anushkasharma gave us EXACTLY THAT, so thank you very much 🙏
Besides all that, EXQUISITE PIECE OF ART is what I would call this movie.
The screenplay, conceptualization, direction, cinematography, references, connections, transition from past to present, acting everything was on point and I didn't have to try too hard to understand what was going on (which usually isn't the case when it comes to ART DECO FILMS)
I mean all elements of film making were nailed along with delivering a strong message about women empowerment through a horror film which also beautifully captures surrealism along with nuances of the Neo Noir era.
Not to forget, the power packed performances.
I mean aur kya chahiye?
In case you're wondering why I'm critiquing a movie in the middle of the night is because I read MULTIPLE REVIEWS trashing this movie, calling it a feminist failure, "feminist fairytale" masquerading as a horror film,
Anushka Sharma's Bulbbul is wired all wrong
And yada yada yada! I mean why?
Kya sab critics itne daft hote hai? Ya fir baat kuch aur hai?
Viewers itne bhi bewakoof nai hai.
I mean the joke's on them because they're the ones who end up looking like fools.
