I stop reading business books. I used to get them from the library only to never read them or fall asleep while trying to get through the second page. I forced myself to read a few, even took notes that I’ve never used. The feeling I had from these was almost always the same: boring, repetitive or patronising. Having started a business with no business background means that sometimes I suffer from “imposter syndrome” and business books tend to reinforce my feeling and left me for worse.
When I got the book: Confessions of a misfit entrepreneur, I couldn’t put it down. It’s funny, cleverly written and very well organised! Each chapter debunks “must have” entrepreneurial requirements with a fresh and personal outlook that encourages self-reflection.
How often can you self-reflect in your business? How often do you realise you have done the right thing, even if that was the opposite to what some entrepreneurial bibles told you to?
For the first time I found a business book written by a real person who shares ups and downs provides valuable advice, and encourages to find your own entrepreneurial style. I felt validated in my business model and that I’m not alone or wrong just because I’m doing my journey a little different. The lessons learnt are worth the money. I found my own answers and help me plan my next steps.
Filled with useful tips, honest and witty, you will not regret buying Confessions of a misfit entrepreneur, this is a must read!
