Meh. I hugely enjoyed Asteroid City and The French Dispatch, but the criticisms of those films are true tenfold here - it’s a bit aimless and feels like a cheap parody of some of his earlier work. All the Wes Anderson-isms are there, with an AAA-list cast, but it’s to diminished effect, really.

The worst of YouTube meets the worst of reality TV. Money can buy you a lot of things, but splashing it up the wall does not make a show good.

If you enjoy watching B-roll with little-to-no observable cinematography stretching 30 minutes' worth of actual content over two hours under the guise of art, this is the perfect film for you. From some of the wildly divergent critic reviews that disagree on even the basics of what it's about, it's clear Memoria has nothing to say - and says nothing for so long that you end up filling the gaps yourself.
