It's difficult to give a five star review to such a horrific account of abuse and betrayal, but as difficult as this is to read I have to give a huge shout out to the authors for being so vulnerable and exposing the truth. This book is an excellent, and heart wrenching read. If you aren't livid and determined to DO something about it by the time you're done reading, you have a problem.
I wish I could say that this kind of abuse is rare, but that wouldn't be the truth. It's uncomfortable to read, but nowhere near how uncomfortable it is to endure. We, as a society, have to start treating children's lives as valuable. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to terrors that make us uncomfortable.
It is beyond time that we end this kind of abuse. Those who know it is happening must stand up and speak out and society needs to listen, believe and then ACT!
Religious people are often associated with extreme "pro-life" causes, and there's nothing more pro life than preserving the innocence and potential of already born children in their own communities. It's time to require accountability and end these kinds of abuses.
