As a reader of the After series i was genuinely excited for this movie to be released. However, i am thoroughly disappointed by it.
Firstly, one main thing that really bothered me was the recasting of actors. i understand covid switched things up and they did the best they could with what they had but man it was a disappointment. I felt like i had no relationship with any of the recasted characters and it was even worse for the characters who have literally been switched EVERY SINGLE MOVIE.
anyways, the book was very good but i feel as though the writers had a hard time putting the important things into the movie from the book whilst having character development and deep meaning ect.
Like where did the Zed, Hardin and Tessa love triangle go? Where did the part where Hardin was held in jail for the fight go? Where was the storyline behind why Hardin decided to join the gym? Tessa's reasoning to wanting to move to Seattle was barely mentioned... Where is the whole Tessa thinking Hardin was cheating on her with Lillian. The background story of Lillian was barely mentioned as well. The fight over Hardin not using protection in the hot tub which led to that misunderstanding. Why was Robert used in place of Hardins nightmares about Trevor? Richards storyline is barely mentioned and its like they just threw him in because they thought they had to and because they introduced him in the last movie.
SOOO much is missed. And i understand its like an hour and a half movie and the book was 800 + pages but it skipped out on very big things and was thoroughly disappointing. nothing added up and i wish they didn't rush the movie and actually gave it the loved it deserved.
