This could possibly be one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a very, long, long time. Since the 2nd Bill & Ted, Keanu Reeves has built an amazing career for himself and slowly guided himself away from the goofy kid image that catapulted him to stardom. With this latest installment he’s literally careened himself back to square one, only this time, it doesn’t work anymore. Whereas Bill still pulls it off, Keanu’s forceful acting in an attempt to revisit his stoner character, makes this movie truly cringeworthy. It’s like watching John Wick having a bad mental health breakdown and making us journey with him into a drug-fueled mushroom bender. The movie has very few funny moments and one-liners as it just simply relies on the typical Bill & Ted banter. Thea (Samara Weaving) and Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine), who play Bill & Ted’s daughters, make the movie’s 90+ minutes somewhat bearable. If only they had minimize Bill & Ted presence in the movie and focused on the kids instead, with an occasional cameo from the originals, this might have actually worked. In the end, this is an hour and a half you’ll never be able to get back. Terribly NOT-excellent dudes. Not at all.
