This movie was bad. It was so incredibly boring and slow, my wife literally fell asleep twice. I stopped waking her up because, well, she wasn't missing anything. The story was disconnected like it was poorly edited, and the ending was predictable within the first 30 minutes of the movie. I've read several reviews here that were positive, and criticized the negative reviewers as being lazy or stupid. Let me assure you, the plot is very easy to understand. It's just very thin and shallow, lazily crafted, with poorly developed, one-dimensional characters. There are incredibly interesting and well written sci-fi dramas that don't need to rely on action (e.g. Interstellar, District 9), but Captive State gives this sub-genre a bad name. Visually unappealing, dull story, disjointed and boring; there is nothing positive I can say about it. Sadly, I wouldn't even recommend watching it for free on your own tv when it reaches cable. It is the most tediously uninspired and uninspiring movie I've seen in a very long time.
