very depressing book about a 15 year old girl and her teacher and sexual abuse. the book is long and tedious and gives little hope to individuals that have abusive relationships in their youth. there are so many good books out there....why read this depressing book with little hope. so many negative pages. Don't waste your time.

This book was a big disappointment. I did not find the book humorous. A refugee dying on arrival to Canada is NOT amusing and for me a sad way to start a book. There are parts of the book that review life incidents in a very negative way. Visits to inspirational living centre, summer camp experiences and bar/bat mitzvahs are examples of very poor presentations of life experiences. I do NOT recommend the book. Clearly the author has a very sad perspective on life.
