This album is really creative as far as content and lyrics. The sound is very cohesive throughout the entire album but each song carries distinctly different emotions. There are a lot of unconventional topics addressed in each song such as in "Vampires Will Never Hurt You," "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville," or "Headfirst for Halos," but with them each song brings its own vibrant and unique energy. The theme of the album is as incredibly morbid as it is romantic. This album doesn't perform with the same level of theatrics as the band's later works but it carries a similar sound as their second album. Bullets is extremely raw and honest- performed and mixed in a basement months after the band quit their dayjobs in a response to the 9-11 tragedies (Skylines to Turnstiles). I highly recommend this album. Some of My Chemical Romance's best tracks can be found on this album and it's no surprise that the band gained such a huge following less than a year after its release. If you like MCR's other works, give this a listen. Spectacular album.
