Liked the first book well enough (quite well, actually; it’s a great concept), but couldn’t make it thru the second or third, don’t recall exactly why. The series, however, has become one of our * favorite all-time video fantasies, for SO many reasons, chief among them the fabulous Set/costume design and cinematography, and the great Joy of seeing so many incredible, old-favorite, British actors knocking moments of fantastical transcendence and wickedness out of the park with such effortless ease. Bravo to all concerned. ( * we’re life-long fantasy readers and viewers, and by life-long, I mean we’re unrepentant boomers.)
