After having read so many glowing reviews of Spencer - or at least of Kristen Stewart’s portrayal of Diana (admittedly she did justice to the sidelong glances and soft spoken British accent) but beyond that I found the speculative nature of what may have/could have transpired behind castle doors to be preposterous. Diana without a doubt faced tremendous obstacles acclimating to the demands of palace life along with the poorly kept “secret” of her husband’s mistress while maintaining a public persona, however some interactions depicted in the film
strain credibility. On top of that, the pace was slow, character development for others in the cast largely overlooked or portrayed as caricatures so much so to the point of taking on a farcical quality. The pros of watching it: I got to see what all the fuss was about regarding Kristen Stewart (most of which I’d seen already in clips from interviews). The cons: two hours and $20 wasted
