Gargantuanly mindless film masquerading as a complex, time-spiraling conundrum. One weak idea – stuff going backwards – to hang the whole miserable plot on. Unwatchable to the point of making me want to find that algorithm, go back in time (or would it be forward - oh really, who cares??), and make sure this film never gets made. A total waste of human energy, time and resources. If ever there were a sign of 21st century civilisation disintegrating into meaninglessness, confusion, and alienation, this is it.

If you're searching for any kind of cultural reference for this film, think Lynch's Mulholland Drive, and you'll have at least a fighting chance of making sense of it. I adored it before I really understood it. I won't say it is at ALL enjoyable, not in the slightest. But it is absolutely brilliant. Tragic. Funny. Moving. Repulsive. Hypnotic. Grotesque...and utterly, unspeakably FORLORN. But it gets to the heart of being human. Or what it means to be human. No sugaring: just exactly how it is for all of us in the end. Brilliant. Now I hope I can forget I ever saw it.
