This is a lovely movie because the setting is gorgeous, the interior
details give evidence of people who were "making do" during the occupation but mainly because the characters open to us as they
communicate their values in the way they live their lives. When Elizabeth handed Kit over to Dawsey and said, "You were the one who gave me bread when I asked you and you are the one I trust with Kit." In that you know about Kit and Dawsey. Of course, Juliet and Dawsey were meant to be together. We knew that in the circumstances of their meeting. I've seen this movie three times and read the book when it came out. The casting is perfect
