Had not heard of this movie, it was surprisingly entertaining, the young actor was perfectly cast. A huge plus it was set in a atypical setting and gave one a snapshot of a different culture.

The close-up camera work and “background” music throughout was unsettling…….and totally distracting! Good example of how NOT to make a movie!

FABULOUS! Captures your interest from start to finish. Terrific cast and of course Tom Cruise is always great. See it, you won’t be disappointed and will certainly look forward to the sequel.

Great in every way…..it behooves every manager to watch this!

Grand glimpse of a bygone Japan. Countryside fabulously captured. Great casting for all the major players, really relatable. Katsumoto character perfectly portrayed. Only criticism was the unrealistic ending.

Looked forward to the movie, the story, the wonderful cast, BUT walked away not having really connected to ANY of the characters. The brevity and snapshot of each member of this family was just that, TOO BRIEF.

Light, whimsical entertainment……enough said.

Immigration message and contradictions aside, the relationships were gripping, found myself empathizing with each of the characters. Really wanted a happy ever after ending…….

Not knowing what this film was about, I TRIED to watch it on 2 occasions, each time stopping 15-20 minutes into the film finding it “dull.” Then heard it was nominated for several academy awards, I forced myself to watch it in its entirety, found it a tad more interesting but couldn’t wait for it to be over. The pace, dialogue and backdrop made it an effort to watch.
