A reminder that the ultra-rich can be miserable, deeply troubled, lack even the most basic compassion and spend years wallowing in self-pity. The backdrop of Hong Kong was merely incidental. The stories are, like the nightly news, a series of train wrecks that you somehow can't look away from.

Why would you watch this film if you were expecting a brainy detective story with real-life complications and expensive choreography? The only reason you'd watch this movie is because you like Karen Gillan. She's in the movie. She's dressed colorfully, and is allowed the usual narrow span of emotions she's been permitted since her brilliant turn as The Doctor's companion, many years go. If that's why you came, then you'll be happy.
