I just finished this amazing documentary. This work is profound. The way it has been put together following the food brought to america by the slaves (okra, yams, etc...) to the scraps the slaves turned into meals to survivive on, to how these foods today have been elevated to a cuisine that is so much more than everyday soul food.
Along the way you learn a great deal of African American History, shedding light on a lot of credits not given as well as featuring the next generation of African-American chefs stepping up to maintain the history while serving up what appears to be mouth watering scrumptious dishes.
I expect this body of work to be recognized in all important ways including those award shows aimed at African Americans. #BET #NAACP
