Take Nicholas Cage, make him a soda addict and apparently a mute, toss him into dollar store Five Nights at Freddy's, add a touch of satan and boom, you got yourself a film. So awful it's great.

Absolutely brilliant and hilarious. Dark humor paired with great voices/acting, beautiful animation, and a captivating story. I am very eager for episode 2.

I grew up with the Little Mermaid, and I remember fond memories watching it when I was a kid. It's around the same level quality as all the rest of the live action remakes. It's ok. Just ok. Disney showing off their visual effects and lack of new story ideas. The writing in some places is not where it should be for a Disney film. The animals seem to have no expressions, even when their voices do, making this weird, flat, uncanny performance. Oh, and Awkwafina is in this too, as the same kind character she's always cast as (which is a shame cuz I'm sure she can act as more then the semi-annoying comic relief character but it keeps happening). Some of the new songs are alright, and Ursula is done pretty well. All overall, it's lesser then it's source material. Some of it is really well done, some of it I wanna plug my ears and shut my eyes. I don't think it's worth it. Just watch the original and spare yourself

Holy cow. This might've been the best horror movie I've seen in a while, if not my whole life. It's a slow burn that's well aware of it's slow pacing, using it to draw out the story til it's artistic, poetic, nightmare fuel ending. And not a single jumpscare. This movie uses real, slowly brewing dread and anxiety to build and bubble and boil until the audience is quivering like children at the very last shot. As an aspiring film maker and story teller, this is exactly what I want to make some day.

I. Loved. It. The acting is realistic, the story is relatable (which adds to the emotions of the viewer) and the pacing and colors blend together and make the energy so spectacular, I was bummed when the movie ended. PS: I'm now an Elton John fanatic.
