A friend recommended this movie. And she was right, it is quite a touching and warm journey into the early 1950's. For Junior, Melissa was the perfect match for his first love. She had, and gave him, the courage to rise above his natural shyness. By the end of the film, although Junior was left with a broken heart, Melissa left him stronger and more sure of himself as he bested the bully of the film. The time and setting was spot on because I lived when and there at the same time. I especially liked the props, Nehi Orange, a '52 caddie, and so on. It brought me way back to my 11th year in the hot desert. I say, bravo and hooray to the writer and director for making the old days live again in a beautiful movie.
