I watched it through without knowing what it was really about. It was only in the last scene when his wife said his daughter died of Glioblastoma multiforme did I realise the movie was about me, I'd just lost my wife after a two year battle with GBM so I know what they were trying to do. GBM is well known for ripping the life apart of the person who loves the person who gets it, that's what it was trying to portray.
