A master story teller, Stacey keeps us in suspense as each chapter unfolded in this story around Avery Keene, a brilliant young law clerk (Spelman undergrad and Yale Law), charged with unraveling clues to a medical mystery left by Supreme Court Justice Wynn who is now in a coma. While the multitude of characters makes for moments of confusion as to who is zooming who, it all culminates in a expertly crafted game of chess and checkmate. Definitely worth the read. I am eagerly awaiting the planned television series.
