I have mixed feelings about this book only because I have a soft spot for coming of age books. I read reviews before ordering this book and I refused to let it effect my purchase and wanted to give it a chance. For one if your not a reader this book is not for you. Second, this was an extremely slow read. Third it's very poetic (I hate poetry) It took me about 2 weeks to get through and I wanted to shoot myself in some parts. I feel like the author had good intentions and I feel bad for my criticism.
Her story is smooth the whole way through, she keeps a melancholy/monotonous tone throughout the book. No climax what so ever even when u think its going get interesting it really doesn't. The book allowed me to reflect and relate in some parts because I had a similar Christian background. I also can admit that I did tear up a bit in the chapter titled "The Deep Blue"
There wasn't much else I found appealing. No other oh my word moments. I just kept pushing to finish in hope's that I would get to that Oh my word moment.
