Struck me as a Russian variant of Brokeback Mountain, as several parallels or similarities can be seen. Though I thoroughly enjoyed Brokeback Mountain -- and may yet watch again -- owning a copy is not something I've ever considered. I can count on one hand the films I've desired to keep ...and have bought. Firebird will now be one of those!
