I grew up watching this show. The acting is brilliant and the premise is a really cool new take on a much older story. It’s kinda weird thinking that Merlin is actually supposed to be this old wizard guy after you see Colin Morgan’s performance. He portrays the great sorcerer Merlin as a dorky, lovable young man, who really cares about helping people. At the end of the day, this was a 2008-2012 BBC family show so the effects aren’t the best, but I think it adds a certain charm. The fact that people still love it today shows that it really was kinda ahead of its time. This series will really give you all the feels. I think that historical accuracy and staying true the original legend was not at the forefront of the producers and writers’ minds; because at it’s heart, Merlin is about over coming challenges, the true meaning of nobility and most importantly, the power of friendship.
