1.5 out of 5, Just because of the idea.
Have you ever played the first resident evil game? It's been released for PS1. It obviously has a terrible graphic. However, the game is scary. And the story behind it is interesting. But this movie with all the technology? Someone has described it as an underrated film. My advice to them is to watch some midrange movies; their test will improve drastically.
Although I really enjoyed the idea behind the movie. A German lab, where Nazis try to create horrible weapons of war. A few numbers of soldiers suddenly finding themselves against monsters that cannot be killed. And a protagonist who finds his courage in the heat of war.
That being said, the idea was poorly executed to the point that the movie isn't scary at all. German soldiers are a bunch of idiots who dies left and right by an American soldier with a pistol. The protagonist doesn't feel real; his conversation with Chloe doesn't add anything to the character development. The sergeant's speech on the plane seemed to be forcefully added to the script, maybe in the hope of creating a masculine atmosphere? God knows what they were thinking. I don't even want to go through sending just a plane worth of soldiers for a high-value target. I know they had to kill them all to add intensity to the movie, but couldn't they play it smart?
The scriptwriter and the director could've watched Band of Brothers, learning a thing or two about the war; If they had only watched some scary animation (Resident Evil series perhaps) or had played Silent Hill (any of them) just for an hour, this disaster never created. It's a shame that I spent 2 hours on this catastrophe.
