I have spent several hours examining a copy of CGCG to decide whether I--in my eighth decade--should buy the new grammar. My decision is a resounding YES. Smyth's Greek Grammar was a wonderful compendium of facts about Greek, but assumed the reader already knew Greek and just wanted to pin down a point or two. The CGCG, on the other hand, appears to assume no Greek experience on the user's part, but only that he is intelligent. I can live with that! I noticed a handful of errors in the book and have a suggestion or two to bring to the editors for their second edition. But after I have acquired their first edition.
