Parkland, fl. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. The USA schools cater the smart and rich and life can be miserable for those who are not socially accepted. I know, Yes, I almost did 68 years ago. There are 100s of thousands of these poor kids and only a very few will take drastic actions but they are out there ready to explode. Almost impossible to stop. The academic side of school receives all the emphasis and the 80% not going to college are left out in the cold. Way to much is placed on sports. The rest of us were smart enough to see the favorites. The way to stop it is to make school fun for everyone. The first 4 year should be for learning things needed for life. Language, communications, social skills, music, PE, math, nutrition, hygiene, shelters, clothing, etc. No grading just learning. Germany splits at grade 5. the 80% is no longer beating their brains out trying to compete with the natural smarter. Instead of grading useless papers, teachers should invest time in the first 4 years analyzing each individual, so, those with problems can be helped. Something is bad wrong with our present education. School shooting is a distant second to school age suicides and they have the same root cause. Don't fit in!!. Those who make it out with problems form bullying or such will never reach their potential and will cause many problems in later years. When students leave school they should have a good solid understanding of what is next. Most have no clue. confusion leads to hostilities. Teachers in the USA want students like them. Make good grades, go to college, and get a job teaching or such. That is only 20% of those they teach.
