Taanakkaran is one of the best Tamizh movies of recent times. A movie with a realistic story which derives from real life experiences has mostly not failed to meet the expectations. The director Tamizh has a corp experience of many years. He himself did a versatile character in Jai bhim so he was able to give one of the finest movies with a good screenplay, content and while also taking his real experiences. This is what Tamizh cinema requires now and in the long run. Soorarai Potru, Jai bhim, Sarpatta, Taanakkaran - all these movies shine because they deal with reality and directors didn’t bother to take the risk of conveying their social oriented messages. I have never been a great watcher of Vikram prabhu movies except his old movie Kumki. His recent movies have terribly failed despite he being a son of a huge star. I hope Taanakkaran remains a comeback movie for him. His clean shave appearence and body language makes him more pleasing. Characterisation was so good that everyone had their roles tuned to the best. MS Bhaskar, the merciless police trainee officers, the co-trainees who were both young and old all did their roles so aptly. Before Taanakkaran, I found Sila nerangalil Sila manidhargal movie had a wonderful characterisation and character closures were also excellent. The running length could have been shortened a bit as there were more reptitiveness especially in second half. Editor could have done better. For the first time as far as I know, Disney Hotstar has got a thumping movie under its list. Star networks must encourage more such movies in OTTs and not remain for the sake of only cricket, IPL or some idiotic family serial cultures. I would recommend this movie to others. A very silent movie which is gaining appreciations in a period when a lot of big star movies have not done well. We require more such quality movies. My rating for Taanakkaran: 4.8 / 5

FIR is a good movie overall. The movie is technically very good and Vishnu Vishal’s performance was excellent from the 1st to the last frame and it is one of his career-best next to Ratchasan. It conveys good messages in the first half, especially the car scene and I loved the emotional scenes between Irfan and his mother. I like the way the movie starts with a song (never seen a movie that starts with a song so early but even that first song was fresh and had a good rhythm). GVM fits well as a security advisor and it was a nice try to get him in this character for his English accent and body language. GVM himself directed Vettayadu Vilayadu, one of the best crime thrillers and his voice-over with the “proud Indian Muslim” tagline feels good. The RAW intelligence drama at the end seems to spoil the entire show and the story was very much fulfilling without the last drama. There seemed to be so many flaws with the last drama added because many scenes were needless, the movie goes off track with it and it seems to cheat the audience. Love portions should have been cut down and could have been more “light” like Maanadu and Manjima’s character didn't add any value given its hype in the first half. Characters' closures seem to take a hitting. The entire team must take a lesson from the recent movie Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidargal Stunt sequences were the best part. The cinematography and the drone shots with a bird's eye view of the city were so good and I didn’t feel so bored at any point. The songs and the BGM behind the action sequences were so good and gave a very good Dolby digital experience. The whole movie was so predictable and that was one huge negative I felt. In short, a ‘Maanadu without a time-loop’ if ignoring the last predictable yet annoying twist and a few logical flaws. I would give it a 3 / 5 rating.

Such a wonderful movie with so many good messages. I watched it in Ahaa OTT. I heard the main song “Unakkaagave” for so many months even before the movie was released. Since then I was so particular to watch this movie as I always watch selective movies. The movie name, song lyrics, and the actors shown along with characterization always got me interested to watch this movie someday. Unakkaagave song sung by Sathyaprakash is one of the best songs I have heard recently and it had those Tamizh pleasant rhythmic elements in it. Thanks to the music director Radhan. Seems like a good energetic young team. Coming to the story plot, the importance that every character added to the movie was spot on. Everyone did their part well and there were no masala elements of heroism involved anywhere as it was a completely different story plot. I liked the way the hyperlink was handled. The movie had the apt running duration without compromising the screenplay or the messages. The final message from Nasar’s voice-over was excellent. The most interesting thing was how Nasar’s early dialogue in the movie synced with another character’s end. Ashok Selvan seems promising in his movies. He seems to pick up different roles from Soodu kavvum, Thegidi till SNSM. Not many people speak about him on social networks and I feel he is one of the most underrated growing actors. His performance was stunning in this movie, especially in the emotional scenes. His pair also played her part well (she is Reya who herself is a producer) and it is good to see the stereotype myth getting broken. The myth is only a beautiful fair popular actress must be the lead girl role. This is one of those distinguishing factors which has made this movie unique. Personally, there was one interesting fact I observed was the apartments being shown in some scenes were SIS Marakesh, Urapakkam where I stayed on rent for a few months. I had my laugh when I found it. OMR is still way far from that place but it doesn't matter in a movie :P Overall, an excellent movie to watch if you are not too much into masala movies.

Performances, time loop concept, the pace at which the movie moves, dialogues, Yuvan's music and bgm were so good. The overall message conveyed was the best. This is my first Simbu movie in a theatre. It was entertaining and different. We need different movies in tamil though it might follow English journers. I don't mind watching a 'copied' movie if it is entertaining. The negative was the half backed heroin scenes could have been reduced as it didn't add value

Watched this movie on Amazon Prime. Except Rathika and Sarathkumar's performance and the camera work, the characters were so artificial. Villain was made dummy, Aishwarya rajesh flirting with 2 boys, Madonna asking for a 2 crore help from the hero who was already in financial stress and many other artificially framed characters were so annoying. The same song gets repeated in most of the scenes and it distracts from the actual story. I am giving a 1 star for the performance and camera work.
