I love the concept of the show, pitting home cooks against restaurant industry professionals. However, the judges in particular Dan make it hard to watch as he discourages and second-guesses contestants. Also for the Greek episode, it was unfair that store bought pastry won out over handmade pastry. There has to be a level playing field, so there shouldn’t be an advantage of premade pastry. The show should take into account that attempting a handmade filo takes more skill and experience. Dan makes the show unpleasant to watch, not really sure if he’s even qualified to judge if he only realized that spanakopita is a technical dish after eating it. The judges also need to understand that deconstructed dishes in no way resemble the actual authentic dish!!
