This post modernist feminist and black armband interpretation of an Australian classic short story would have Henry Lawson turning over in his grave. It bares little resemblance to Lawson's masterpiece and lacks the pathos and sensibility of the author's description of the stoic suffering of a real drover's wife. A one dimensional pantomime designating all the white characters as ignorant, brutish or stupid and the indigenous saints.

Pretentious and a poor attempt to reproduce Nietzsche's theme of eternal recurrence. Nihilistic and terribly tedious. Plotless and a film offering no redemption or hope. The assistant becomes robotic in a job that is beneath her.

Tediously boring and predictable, with a wooden and toneless performance by the killer. If only there was the slightest hint of meaning or passion in the killer's behaviour he might have been a tad interesting. In his fight with the brute he suffered injuries which would have severely injured anyone but an android, which probably reflects the role played by the killer. Nothing could redeem this soulless, depressing and nihilistic bloodfest.

I get it! It's time for women to have the upper hand and show they can be even more ruthless than men. However, the film was depressing in that there was not a single likeable or moral character in the film which probably reflects much of society today.

Solipsistic, highly experimental and terribly dreary. Badly in need of editing with interminable floating sequences and a tribute to LSD in the final scenes. The movie deserves credit for its aims and special effects but I would hardly describe it as a masterpiece. In an attempt to be deep and meaningful it just doesn't cut it.

Seemed like a poor attempt at a documentary extolling a brilliant police ploy to catch a wanted criminal. It dragged on interminable and they obviously ran out of money with a sudden ending which did not explain the outcome of the marathon plot to get the accused to confess. Joel Edgerton was so bland he could have been comatose. Disappointing film that needed editing and a better ending.

After a huge publicity build up I was hoping for something bigger than the original. Sadly it was tired and lacked the sparkle of Knives Out. It took too long to get moving and would have benefited from a better ending which tied up lose ends. Daniel Craig's forced southern accent became grating after a while. He was outshone by Norton who stole the show.

A savage indictment of fanatical religion and the closemindedness of its adherents. The end was a little too Hollywood and they lived happily ever after. Needed to explain what the nurse was on and the need to drink her blood. The music and sound effects were often redundant and silly. The tension in the movie does not need such effects. The absence of even a single bone after the fire beggars belief. Otherwise, a compelling yarn albeit if the movie need not have been so long.

Too many loose ends and contrived scenarios. The young Leda is more impressive than her older counterpart and the very talented Ed Harris underused. His discovery of the doll leads nowhere and the ending makes no sense. A failed attempt to be deep and artistic. A good cast but a shambolic screenplay.
