not even finished with it yet, but it's already done so much for me. as i became more socially aware in my teenage years, christians around me became disturbed at my new perspectives and implored me to focus on my faith. i felt like such a bad christian for a long time because i wanted to help push back against american racism. but now this book is giving me real history to validate my positions, as well as accept that it's okay to be both socially aware and christian. i'm sure i'll have a lot more thoughts about it once i'm done, but i already know it deserves 5 stars.
