3.5 hours of my life I will never get back. A star studded cast who ramble on seemingly without a script to follow in many instances.
As a huge fan of Goodfellas I have to say this is an epic disappointment, with Scorcese trying his best to follow many of his tried and true story telling methods, even going so far as to have a 76 year old Robert DeNiro look 30 through anti-aging special effects that would make the Marvel movies blush.
One scene in particular his mob hitman character 'Frank' beats up a store owner for putting his hands on his daughter and I honestly felt DeNiro was going to fall down and break a hip while kicking the guy while he was down and curb stomping the store owners hand.
Another scene where Jimmy Hoffa is whacked is an almost shot-for-shot recreation of the scene in Goodfellas where Joe Pesci is whacked. I get it Scorcese, you're trying to pull on our nostalgic heartstrings here, but in turns of predictability this like throwing a ball and wondering, 'will it ever come down?'
Don't get me started on the ending. Okay, since I'm here .... the ending? All the old mobsters end up dying one-by-one either in jail or in nursing homes by cancer or other natural causes. Are you kidding me? THAT'S the ending I kept hearing so many good things about?
Fuggedaboutit! What a waste of 3.5 hours
