I absolutely loved this movie. I loved the original (She's All That), so I was a little concerned about the remake, but it was done to perfection.
First and foremost, the casting of the lead roles and supporting roles was perfect. Addison Rae and Tanner Buchannan (both newcomers) were magnetic. You wanted to see these two together throughout the entire movie. Rae is especially impressive, particularly given this is her first role. And Tanner was perfection as the anti-sociable transformed "loser". He's adorable in the role.
I think what I loved most is that the story line is original. It is not a rehash of the original (a mistake that was made in "Coming to America 2"). It is a 2021 version...updated and speaks to its own development of it own story line...thanks to the writers.
By the way, I am so glad that I was not familiar with Addison Rae before this movie. I think the reviews that are slamming her because of her TikTok fame are completely unfair and biased. She did a great acting job. She came across as sincere and believable in the role. If you want to see bad acting, watch Whitney Houston in Bodyguard or Madonna (in any movie). Addison can act. She is just starting out, but she did great. I did not see the difference between she and other actors (in this film) with much more experience. Just look at her in every single scene with her mother (the original "She's All That" star, Rachael Leigh). Addision is going to be a big star....she's a natural in front of the camera and absolutely beautiful. In fact, Netflix agrees. They just signed a multi-million dollar contract with her, so she gets the last laugh here. This movie is a winner! Good for her. It's #1.
I have watched it about 6 times already. Love it! Smart...cute and fun.
