I saw this film when I was 14 years old, it has obsessed me ever since ( am now in my 60s ) the novel was written by Joan Lindsey, I'm sorry to dash everyone's mystery but it wasn't true. After Joan Lindsey's the final chapter was released called "The Secret of Hanging Rock" which explain what happened to the girls. It is a hauntingly beautiful film.
