Overall pretty good movie. Be warned the dialogue is a bit cliche in the serious moments, but the light stuff is written well & so I think that's why some people say the acting was bad, when in fact the acting was fantastic, they just got some amateur lines to work with... Give it a go, with that in mind, then you won't be disappointed. -spoilers below- The twists are worth watching the movie for alone, so don't stop watching when she makes the phone call, or when her friend tells her "it's not your fault" (both made me cringe at the bad writing), as the story gets good & the end has a great pay-off. 7/10

Starts out okay & there are some good bones in the story, good plot points to work with, along with acting potential (mainly the lead). But your ride is quickly taken down by all the Gen Z pandering checklists, ticked off, in quick succession. If you live your life in a fake online fantasy world, with no real friends, then you will like this movie. Painfully bad storytelling & how they move the plot along is by using every amature & cliche trick, not well. The unnerving close-ups were good at the start but soon become overused. Just who exactly were you supposed to like or relate to? The psychopath, the sociopath, or the vapid idiots? But it's okay because they have a disabled gay guy to complete the checklist. Accents were all over the shop & how did stabbing a girl in the face, manage to change her race when she grew up? Could have been good if any of the characters were believable, or the set-ups close to real world actions. The final scene was a good ending for this type of film, but just made you wonder why the last 90mins were so bad. This just proves most reviews are paid for, or just by sheep who don't actually care about good movies. Let the memory of this movie die... "It's the humane thing to do". 3/10

So bad, it's not even funny! Terrible acting, dialogue & story. Where to begin? I normally trust Justin Long's choices for smaller, non-mainstream movies like 'Tusk', 'Youth in revolt' & 'A case of you'. He even does silly roles in a few bad movies I liked such as 'Movie 43', 'Accepted', & 'Yoga Hosers'. He has been in plenty of movies that were not great, but this is so far beneath him & he was in the Chipmunks movies! I think I'm more annoyed at Justin Long being in this train wreck, than the fact they dared to liken this travesty to the cinema classic. No that annoys me more... Just don't watch it & pray the morons that made it are never allowed near another film set ever again. 1/10 nope. 0/10 they don't even get a point for trying.

A very cool take on something familiar and old, yet still fresh in most aspects. Films of this sub-genre often don't accomplish believable evil, or the lead up is so standard that you guess the set-ups, or just get bored... This provides background & entertainment to get you where it needs to be before unleashing the awesome! A very entertaining ride, with very few flaws. Check it out if you're a fan of occult movies. -spoilers below- Great sets, costumes, script & acting all the way through. But the ending was the only reason it didn't get 10/10. Story and SFX were great, yet I personally didn't like the switch to electrical style power or the head split effect used. The rest of the SFX, until then, all seamlessly blended with the 70's style & then suddenly it was like 'Raiden' showed up? Followed by a good dream sequence, but then cut back to the final frames where they gave us a cool ending, but he's saying some chant that I don't remember hearing earlier & didn't understand the relevance of. Confusing end, but still enough info for you to follow & understand what happened, even if you didn't know what the chant was about, like me. Better than most Horror films. Give it a go! 8/10

If you enjoy movies like Bio-Dome, you'll love this movie! It silly, fun & totally ridiculous in all the best ways. Don't go in expecting anything but light-hearted fun & you'll have a great time. A lot of reviews say it's like Legally Blonde & while I suppose this could be classified as Legally Blonde in space, this is more like a Steve Martin or Adam Sandler movie. Due to all the suspensions of reality that would need to happen, for this to actually happen... Just get ready to laugh & leave your critical thinking for serious movies. -spoilers below- Emma Roberts gives a great performance as smart drop-out, that never got the education she could have had, but instead chose to party, get drunk & live life without responsibilities. Now she wonders "what could have been" & decides to apply to NASA with an honest letter, only her best friend tweaks it and changes it to a perfect application & she's accepted. Hilarity ensues... Gabrielle Union & Tom Hopper lift the quality of the film, Desi Lydic is fantastic (not Jenna Elfman who I thought it was & looked great for her age) & Poppi Lui had some solid moments too. The rest of the odd-ball cast is good enough, so the whole film works well at creating this enjoyable ride. 7/10

The ultimate example of a 50/50 movie. Half is brilliant and half is bad... So the major flaws are the lead actors either keep dropping the quality of their performance, due to bad acting moments, bad dialogue or bad story progression. So while you have just watched them deliver a great line, it's quickly followed up with a bad one. Or they have a great scene & the next is terrible. One minute you're loving it, the next wondering why you're watching it. The whole film continues in this fashion right up to the credits. Great ideas, great concept & great special effects, but the acting is half (of the time) great and the other half awful. The story keeps you hooked, but also keeps you cringing. Overall the first, second and third acts are a jumbled mess, which destroys the viewing ride & leaves you thinking if they had just paced the storytelling correctly, pushed a little harder for better delivery on a few takes, tweaked the dialogue & changed the demon voice a little, this might have been a solid film. Worth watching to know what not to do 5/10

Almost a perfect movie, I only had two major issues with it & unfortunately one of them is the name. When the characters say the name it feels silly, not scary. Which marred the impact of the evil early on. The second issue was a line delivered, out of nowhere, by a normal police office who suddenly waxes poetic insight, that might have been a good line at the end of the movie, but just seemed ridiculous coming from him at the very start of the investigation. Other than a strange use of "cats", that gets no explanation, but could just be me being overly critical... The movie was damn near perfect! Highly recommended for those who love movies like 'It Follows' & "Get Out', while it falls short of their perfection, it's still a great ride. 8/10.

So this starts out brilliantly, sets a tone of off-putting unease & slightly unnerving settings, people & situations. Amazing acting and very cool concepts. The good: It builds a solid story with a strange, yet understandable, world of one persons life that has obviously been loaded with baggage & the bad habbits that develop for them to cope, yet succeed, in a high paying job. Then the story unfolds and an eerie background is given bits of information allowing you build the picture of what happened, while still moving the film ahead at a steady pace so you stay engaged, but have your questions answered. You don't mind the fast delivery as by then it feels normal & you can't wait to see what happens next... Also find out, what's the deal with these creepy people! The bad: A bit past the halfway mark it goes off the rails. It jumps ahead, not in timeline but character arch & you feel like about 20 minutes have been cut from the film. You have suddenly gone from watching the first 20 minutes of the second act, to the last 20 minutes of the third act. Then it just turns into someones twisted hatred of their mother & issues that needed to be dealt with in a therapy session, not this movie. It had so much going for it and then just imploded on itself. It gets 3 stars because it was genuinely excellent in the idea, acting & execution of the first half. A fantastic explanation is given for why it all happened, but you don't get to enjoy it because they cheat you out of the journey.

So first the good. Great sets, costumes, cinematography & special effects. Some highly talented people worked on this film and gave it a good feel of authenticity to the above mentioned aspects. Very scary & real creepy images portrayed in the right contexts, along with a believable 70's background. The bad. The music was poorly used, or very loudly over-used is more accurate, constantly jarring you out of the ride of the movie & making you focus on the wrong thing. The acting was okay (some very solid moments here and there), but the constant slipping of accents made it hard to stay in the story. The story itself is all over the place. One minute they are being vague & elusive, the next painfully obvious. A few cheap tricks that put you off & make you feel like you're being spoon fed, to the point you know what's just been set up & bang, exactly what you're waiting for happens with no twist or flourish. --Spoiler below-- Worst is, they don't follow rules of the original 'The Omen' & even their own. 1 minute after showing the location of "the mark" the priest then finds it on back of her head? So while it falls short of a real Omen movie, it's an okay b-grade horror flick.
